The fact is that the U.S. White Pages services are not entirely adequate for doing a workable reverse phone look up so I turn to professional services such as the C.I.S. I do get more satisfaction there. Some people are still using Criss Cross Directories and even more antiquated data retrieval systems.. but The Internet's the best way to go, every time!

Hey.. it's fascinating just what you can dig up on The 'Net. I just found interesting information about undercover operations carried out by the New York City Police back in 2004, regarding a GOP conference. The writer hinted at 'spying' undercover, to protect the greatest city in The United States. Well.. I'm not complaining or criticizing buddies. Just stating what I've read.

I visited Ground Zero last year with my daughter who works for an international airline and we made a point of chatting with local New York City policemen. The local court circuit was another place of interest for court records as we had some investigative work to do about a civil case. The judgement will be appearing soon. Anyway - loved NYC, the contrast of Central Park green trees with the stark high rise buildings of drab brown and gray hues. We rode the subway and felt uneasy. We walked The Brooklyn Bridge and climbed the Empire State Building. Felt ecstatic. Truly in awe of the greatest city in the world. No question.

Finally, we walked back to Raddison Martinique on Broadway, fast walking a large section of Manhattan Island. Up that road Jerry Seinfeld used to talk about: Lafayette Avenue: with traffic calming for a complete street division, the authorities say. OK. That's my memories of the apple's core. Around federal election time, gun control law raises its ugly head as a hot issue in the (presidential) election campaign in the United States. It never fails to amaze me what words people use online to search for the US SocialSecurity.gov web site. Err, make that www.ssa.gov for the federal Social Security Administration.

Americans will type in .gov and .com variations like us department socialsecurity gov and all combinations and permutations under the sun. U.S. Dept and dept office are mixed in there in the searched-for combinations.

The official site as I said is www.ssa.gov and people have built web sites specifically designed to lead searchers to the official government homepage. The govt site has tons of useful material on disability and income supplementation and how to apply for these benefits. There is some more on history and blogs cover public discussion on the debate about Social Security reform as preferred by the outgoing president, Pres. George W. Bush.

How Do I Investigate Someone Online?

There are many investigative searches you can do online, without
having to be a professional P.I.

Why do searches produce varying results?

Keep in mind that your search is for public information. Each
individual state defines "public information" very differently. Some
states consider marriage licenses and birth certificates public
information, but require a fee to be paid to access these records and
only the individual, the individual's spouse or the individual's
parents are eligible to obtain these records. Other states provide
this information for free. Some states have yet to place their
state's information on the Internet, but more are everyday. Running
your searches again each week to see if new information has been
collected may later yield successful results.

Are there limits to what information I can find?

As long as the information is public you can obtain the information.
You legally cannot access sealed court documents, or ongoing law
enforcement investigations or bank account records. As more and more
information becomes public, our software will allow you to access the

White Pages reverse directory: is extremely useful for investigators who find a relevant telephone number only and require the associated Name and address!
(Much needed now for cellular phones of course as these out-number fixed land-lines!) But privacy concerns prevent full publication of cell-phone directories.

You really need a quick reference guide for people searching and reverse lookup: white pages, yellow pages for local businesses, and a reverse lookup telephone directory, email lookup as at Yahoo! people search, for example; and ideally also cell phone reverse lookup.

Net Detective gets you into unlisted telephone numbers. You most likely know this if you live in Miami or L.A.

These facilities are eventually coming on the horizon, so to speak.
